In Season Evaluations

Evaluations will take place during Friday night league play. Registration will be open until September 30th 2017 and the cost to be evaluated will  be $15.00. The link can be found under the STORE Tab on the homepage (http://www.divadallas.org) Results will be communicated after all players have been evaluated at the end of the season. At any time after joining DIVA, a player may request to be re-evaluated to move up or down a division.  All re-evaluated members who do move up to a higher division will do so on a probationary basis. During that probationary period (the next season), that member will be watched and evaluated to make sure that the decision to move up was the correct one.  If it is determined, that the player is not performing at the level in which they are rated, they will be re-evaluated and placed into the correct division.

Throughout the course of the season, members will be constantly re-evaluated by the Evaluation Committee to determine if they are consistently playing at the level in which they are rated.  If it is determined that a player is playing consistently above or below the level at which they are currently rated, the Evaluation Chair, with the help of the Evaluation Committee, will require that member to undergo a re-evaluation to either move up or down to the next level as is determined by the Committee.  This is to ensure the fairness and quality of play for each division in DIVA.

Descriptions of Divisions:

Recreational: A Recreational player is a beginner who may or may not know the basics of volleyball. They may or may not have played volleyball before, but they are just beginning to serve, bump, set and attack. Recreational level players are still in the early learning stage of the game. They enjoy playing volleyball but don't really know positioning, and don't always use three hits during the match.

Intermediate: An Intermediate player knows some volleyball skills. Intermediate players know how to bump, set, and attack a ball, but intermediate players are not consistent in these skills. Intermediate players will begin differentiating themselves as hitters or setters, and are beginning to learn court position.

Competitive: A Competitive player has learned the various aspects of the game and knows the skills necessary to be successful. They are comfortable on the court, but may not know where to be at all time when plays are developing. Competitive players have developed some consistency in their skills, but still have some work to do. Competitive players will also begin to differentiate themselves at middles, opposites, libber's. A Competitive setter knows how to run a 5-1, a 6-2 or a 4-2 offense.

Skilled: A Skilled player has developed reliable consistency in their skills. They know where to be on the court at all times when plays are developing. A Skilled setter consistently places their sets where they can be effectively attacked, and changes up their sets. Skilled players know where to be when the opponent is hitting to effectively dig the ball. A Skilled player knows their footwork and how to approach hitting effectively. They can change up their hits hitting line, cross court and can effectively dumping the ball.

Advanced: An Advanced player has excellent court awareness and know all the skills well, but cannot always execute the super-high level plays extremely effectively all the time. Advanced players can run combination plays (slides, tandems, crosses, and back-row hitting) in a basic way if passes are good.

Power: A Power player know all the skills well and executes them effectively all the time. Power players have in depth knowledge of offensive and defensive game play, use advanced strategies to be successful, and are able to perform at the highest levels for an extended period of time.
